PPL returns to The Great Escape 2018

PPL is returning to one of Britain’s most influential festivals for new and emerging music, The Great Escape, in Brighton (17 – 19 May).

On Thursday 17 May, representatives from PPL’s Member Services team will be hosting a drop-in clinic in the foyer of the iconic Brighton Dome between 2pm and 5pm.  PPL performer and record company members will be able to pop by to meet the team and ask any questions they have about their accounts, payments or membership.  Appointments can also be booked in advance to secure a specific time slot here

PPL’s Head of Distribution, Russell Chant, will be taking part in the AI Conference strand of the CMU Insights programme on Thursday 17 May (11.30am) at Dukes @ Komedia, where he will be discussing the pilot Music Recognition Technology initiative in collaboration with DJ Monitor and PRS for MusicThis is a trial to test the effectiveness of audio-recognition technology in recognising the recordings played in nightclubs.

On Friday 18 May (12pm – 2pm) PPL will then co-host a panel event at The Old Courtroom with PRS for Music and PRS Foundation where The XCERTS - renowned for their creativity - will delve into the creative process behind their four albums.  They will open up about the challenges, creative blocks, and risks they have had to overcome as well as the impact of receiving PRS Foundation’s Momentum funding - all of which have helped them to keep producing great live shows and songs.

They will be joined by their long standing producer, Dave Eringa, and Olivia Sime from their live agency ITB, who have worked with the band to help build and shape their career.

The session also includes the official launch of the ‘Five Years of the Momentum Music Fund’ report, featuring keynotes from PPL CEO, Peter Leathem, PRS Foundation’s Vanessa Reed and multi-platinum selling Songwriter and Producer, Crispin Hunt (Longpigs).

Peter Leathem, Chief Executive, PPL said: The Great Escape is a very important event for PPL, as Brighton plays host to the UK music industry for a few days every May.  Not only is it an opportunity to attend panels and network but there is a wealth of emerging musical talent on show, across a multitude of genres.  We very much look forward to returning to the festival in 2018.”
